This Date in Sports History: Germany Hangs 7 on Host Brazil in WC Semis – July 8, 2014

On this date in sports history July 8, 2014 (7/8/2014):
“…And Germany score again.”  It was supposed to be a national holiday in Brazil. The country shutdown as all eyes turned to Estádio Mineirão in Belo Horizonte, as the host country and Germany locked up in what was to be an all-time epic in a World Cup Semi-Final. And just like that, it was over. In the 11th minute, Thomas Mueller sent home a corner kick service to give the Germans a 1-0 lead. Then Klose. Then Kroos. And so on… 4-0 at the 25th.  5-0 at halftime, 7-1 when the final whistle blew, all to the shock and embarrassment of the Brazil National squad and their ravenous fans. Germany would go on to defeat Argentina for the World Cup Title, while Brazil presently still feels the effects, getting bounced out of pool play in COPA 2016.
