Babe Ruth Becomes a Yankee, Curse
Babe Ruth was sold by Harry Frazee, Red Sox club president, to the New York Yankees, 94 years ago today. Ruth, the reigning Home Run champion in Major League Baseball, went to Yankees for a reported $125,000. In the years to follow, the Yankees would become the most successful sports franchise in America, while the Red Sox, one year removed from a Championship, would go on to 86 years of futility, not ending the so-called “Curse of the Bambino” until 2004.
